THIS PAINTING WILL BE AVAILABLE AT SULLIVAN GALLERY MARCH-JUNE, 2025 CONTACT SULLIVAN GALLERY AT 504-895-6720 Here he is!! This piece was a long time in the creation. I started with an idea inspired by “The Ecstasy of Saint Paul” ,1643, by Nicolas Poussin at NOMA. But I wouldn’t start my painting until I had a similar frame. Last summer in NC, while at a roadside pottery studio, where we go to hear Blue Grass, in the bathroom, leaning against a wall—there it was!!! THE FRAME!! So I’ve worked on this piece for a year now, off & on. The frame is plastic, very fitting for Elvis! Not that Elvis isn’t a music icon, but this is about his role as an American Icon.
