And so happy for Spring to finally be here after such a long dark winter. AND grateful to be vaccinated, such a relief! The 2 new fine art limited edition prints I am releasing are a favorite and repeat subject of mine, our Mandarin chair, a treasured family heirloom. It’s very ornate and we’ve never been able to find another one like it when we look around online. It belonged to my husband’s father and I fell in love with it when I first saw it, soon after falling for Mark! The first painting of the chair is titled “Marriage of Past and Present” about my life before Mark when I moved to New Orleans 12 years ago, and then meeting this wonderful human I’m married to 9 years ago. When I first moved to New Orleans, I painted my little kitchen lipstick red and the wild parrots of New Orleans were nesting and living in the neighborhood where I lived. I was enamored with the parrots! As well as enamored with New Orleans, and my red kitchen with its black and white tile floor. All of this made me so happy; it’s the small things. The third painting of the chair, I chose to put in print is “Portrait of Mandarin Chair #3”. In this one I am paying homage to my grandmother and her Blue Willow china, which I loved, even as a child. Her Blue Willow china has appeared in some of my other work and will continue to do so.
